The Marquette University Literary Review is now accepting submissions for the Spring 2016 issue.
We will consider works of any genre and any subject. The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2016 and we aim to respond to all submissions by mid-April. Simultaneous submissions are accepted and encouraged, but please notify us as soon as possible if your work is accepted elsewhere. We will only accept work that has not previously been published. Multiple submissions are acceptable.
We only accept work from Marquette University students, faculty and alumni.
We especially encourage new, unpublished writers to submit. Whether or not we accept a piece will be based solely on the piece’s merit, not the pedigree of the writer. All works are carefully evaluated and read by at least two editors. We have no minimum or maximum number of pieces we can accept, our only concern is quality.
Marquette University Literary Review considers:
Essays (0-10,000 words)
Poetry (up to six poems)
Flash Fiction (0-1,000 words)
Short Fiction (1,001-10,000 words, genre fiction also accepted)
Standalone Novel Excerpts (0-10,000 words)
Creative Non-Fiction (0-10,000 words)
Visual Art (Drawings, Paintings, Photographs)
Please email all submissions to Marquetteuniversitylitreview@gmail.com. You will receive an email reply confirming your submission. In the email, please include the following:
- The title of your piece
- Your piece’s genre from the list above
- Your piece’s word count (if not visual art)
- A short bio (maximum 50 words) of yourself we may publish should we accept your work, including your relation to Marquette University. (Note: If we really love your bio, we may just publish it on its own. Fair warning.)
- Your submission in a .doc/.docx attachment or .pdf for visual art submissions. Word documents should be double spaced and in 12pt Times New Roman font.
Thank you in advance for sharing your work with us! Any other questions not addressed here should be emailed to Marquetteuniversitylitreview@gmail.com.
